1. Who We Are

Lingera (“we”, “our”, “us”) is operated by Lingera.ai. Our Chrome extension and web application help you save, search, and manage your AI conversations. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your data.

2. What Data We Collect

Account Data: When you create an account, we collect your email address and a hashed password. If you use Google Sign-In, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google.

Conversation Data: When you click the Lingera button on a supported AI platform (ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, Gemini, Perplexity, DeepSeek), the extension captures the text content of the conversation currently displayed on screen. This data is:

Captured only when you explicitly click the save button — never automatically or in the background.
Stored locally in your browser (IndexedDB) by default.
Optionally synced to your personal Lingera cloud account if you enable cloud sync.

Usage Data: We do not use any analytics tracking (no Google Analytics, no third-party trackers). We do not collect browsing history, keystrokes, or any data from pages other than the supported AI platforms.

3. How We Use Your Data

To store and organize your AI conversations as requested by you.
To provide search functionality across your saved conversations.
To send transactional emails (waitlist confirmation, account notifications) if you provide your email.

We do not use your conversation data for training AI models, advertising, profiling, or any other purpose.

4. Data Storage & Security

Local-first architecture: By default, all conversation data stays in your browser's local storage (IndexedDB). It never leaves your device unless you opt in to cloud sync.

Cloud sync (optional): If enabled, your conversations are transmitted via HTTPS and stored in a secured database. Access is restricted to your authenticated account only.

Passwords: Passwords are hashed using bcrypt before storage. We never store plaintext passwords.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties. Your conversation data is never shared with anyone. The only third-party services we use are:

Stripe — for payment processing (if you subscribe to a paid plan). Stripe receives your payment information directly; we never see or store your credit card number.
Email delivery — for transactional notifications (waitlist, account alerts). Only your email address is shared with our email service provider.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access all data we store about you.
Export your conversations at any time (PDF, Markdown, JSON).
Delete any or all of your conversations and account data.
Withdraw consent for cloud sync at any time — your data reverts to local-only storage.

7. Cookies

Our web application uses a single essential session cookie for authentication. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or any third-party cookies.

8. Chrome Extension Permissions

The Lingera Chrome extension requests the following permissions:

activeTab: To read the AI conversation on the currently active tab when you click the extension's save button. This permission is only activated on user action and does not allow background access.
storage: To store your preferences (API key, language, storage mode) and cached configuration locally in Chrome.

The extension does not request permissions for browsing history, bookmarks, downloads, or any other browser data.

9. Children’s Privacy

Lingera is not intended for use by children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or through the application. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
